Bravo, give yourselves a pat on the back. Last assignments are posted and I think you will see some standout interpretations of context and technique.
I hope you get a chance to peruse through these and add a comment. Am starting to see some stylistic development in these coupled with the timeline which is another good indicator that you’re getting more time to develop your personal expression rather than just the techniques as tools.

The final assignment is about context and story telling in design.
Final Assignment: is to produce a trio of 8″ x 8″ images that use the live trace, live paint or are personal illustrations executed in Illustrator of a favorite personal object in several contexts:
- A. The personal object illustration in front of a background that helps tell it’s story.
A pixel based image was the suggested background for this. You

During class 5 we covered the Live Trace tool in Illustrator. It’s relatively simple to use and creates vector renderings of pixel based images.
To utilize this feature you must “place” a pixel/photoshop jpeg, tiff etc. format in an illustrator document. To better follow what we did in class I have found a video tutorial on the Adobe site.

*Class 6, Live trace examples, in class demo on Live Paint
Class 6 will be primarily an in class demo on Live Paint and cover information for the final assignment.
For the the final assignment I have asked everyone to choose and bring in a simple object that has sentimental value. This could be a seed pod, a toy, a vase, a pair of shoes. Essentially any easily transportable object that can be drawn that has meaning to you.

Class 5 we reviewed the animations that everyone completed and also continued an in class demo of working with the animations.
We then covered the Live Trace function in Illustrator.
The assigment was to use Live Trace on a series of images including the following
-
Black and white image - could be illustration preferably something very simple
Illustration - can be black and white or color
Detail color photo
*Class 4, info for class 5, Testing testing, this is going to be easy I promise
Happy mid-week guys- as promised a couple of very rough examples that use the technique we’ll be working with. It boils down to a lot of duplicating layers and moving stuff around sloooowly. The biggest skill we’ll need is patience.

Open the layer palette and you will see each layer is a frame.
